Report: Roundtables “Gender of/in African cities”

IFRA-Nigeria organised two roundtables themed on “Gender of/in African cities” a the Institut Français du Nigeria in Abuja and at the Alliance Française/Mike Adenuga Centre in Lagos, in the frame of the series of events funded by the Fonds d’Alembert 2019, in partnership with the French Embassy in Nigeria and IFRA-Nigeria which focuses on “Futures of cities/cities of the future in Africa”. The two roundtables were held in Abuja on Tuesday 9th of April and then in Lagos on Saturday 13th.

Roundtable: Gender in/of African cities

IFRA-Nigeria, as part of a series of events funded by the Institut Français through the Fond d’Alembert, is co-organising two roundtables on “Gender in/of African cities”.

The roundtables will gather artists, activists, academics and urban actors in order to create spontaneous discussions on issues of gender in urban African contexts, starting from the case of Nigerian cities, notably Lagos and Abuja.

Report: Masterclass “Researching public spaces in African cities”

Appel à candidature : Bourse pour un travail de terrain sur le programme “Supporting Entrepreneurship in Africa”

La Fondation Tony Elumelu (TEF) situé à Lagos, l’Agence Française de Développent (AFD) et l’Institut Français de Recherche en Afrique au Nigéria (IFRA Nigeria), ont signé un protocole d’échange lié au programme « Supporting Entrepreneurship in Africa » de la TEF.

L’accord prévoit la sélection d’un(e) étudiant(e) en Sciences politiques ou Economie de niveau master, inscrit(e) dans un établissement d’enseignement supérieur français, pour effectuer un travail de terrain dans plusieurs pays africains francophones et anglophones (Nigéria, Cameroun, Côte d’Ivoire) à partir de janvier 2019. L’étudiant(e) sélectionné(e) sera notamment amené(e) à évaluer les retombées du programme « Supporting Entrepreneurship in Africa » à travers un échantillon de bénéficiaires dans les 3 pays cibles.

Mr. Kassim is the co-author with Michael Nwankpa of The Boko Haram Reader. From Nigerian Preachers to the Islamic State published in 2017 by Hurst Publishers. The book launch was organised at 10am in Draper’s Hall at the Institute of African Studies in the University of Ibadan.
