IFRA was delighted to organise the public lecture “Women on the Move: in Nigeria and Beyond. Mobilisations of Women, Mobilisations of Ideas” jointly with the Institut Francais of Nigeria and the Institute of African Studies. The event took place in Draper’s Hall at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan. We had the pleasure to host a multifarious and plentiful audience comprising academics, activists and many school children. We were happy to have Adejoke Rafiat Adetoro, master student at the History Dept, as our moderator.
The French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA-Nigeria) is offering a series of small grants to support valuable graduate students presenting papers at regional and international conferences in any field of the Social Sciences and the Humanities. The fund is designed to help participants face travel and accommodation costs along with registration fees.

IFRA Nigeria is glad to share the call for papers for the 17th MegaChad colloquium, to which we partner with, titled "Insecurities in the Lake Chad basin", and hold in Nice (France) from the 14th to 16th of June 2017.
On Friday 1st July 2016, IFRA Nigeria organised, with the help of it’s Phd student Sara Panata, the presentation of the Yoruba Name project by Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún, its founder/curator, and Laila Le Guen, the communications lead and researcher. The conference took place in Drapers’ Hall, within the Institute of African Studies. It was attended by a motivated and very reactive public of professors and students of all levels. After the presentation, the convenors facilitated an interactive workshop, followed then by the screening of the documentary Family Name (USA, 1998) by Macky Alston, organised by the Thursday Films Series movie club.
